This is an experimental space envisioned by ichijo-toma—born from a single question:
Can the essence of Japanese aesthetics and the comfort of "wa" still be felt, even when everything is pared down to its most essential form?
Rooted in Japanese sensibilities, traditional craftsmanship, natural materials, and the quiet wisdom of everyday life, this inn invites guests to experience the depth of the Ichijo-Toma philosophy—much like savoring a humble yet heartfelt staff meal prepared with care.
築年を重ねた価値ある建物を選び、
古さの中に宿る美しさや風合いを
生かして改修しました。
建物本来の魅力や風景を切り取るように
設計することで、
新たな住まいの可能性を探ります。
もともと社員の保養所として誕生したこの宿は、
日常の仕事から離れ、心と身体を整え、
感性を磨くための場所です。
従来の保養所が「疲れを癒す場所」
だったのに対し、ここでは
「創造性を育む場所」としての
可能性を追求しています。
我们甄选了一栋拥有历史价值的老屋，
保留其历久弥新的风貌与质感并加以改修，
在保留旧建筑本身魅力与景致的同时，探索新的居住可能性。
最初，这栋建筑是作为员工的疗养所而建，
目的是为了让人们远离日常工作、调养身心、磨砺感性。
与传统的注重疲劳恢复的“疗养所”不同，
这里追求的是一个作为“孕育创造力的空间”的可能性。
We chose a building that has aged with dignity and renovated it with respect for the textures and beauty that time has gently revealed.
Through a design that highlights the original character and frames the surrounding landscape, we explore new possibilities for how we live.
Originally built as a company retreat, the inn was designed as a place to step away from daily work, reset the mind and body, and refine the senses.
While traditional retreats often focus on “healing fatigue,” this space is dedicated to cultivating creativity.

玄関扉を開けると、畳の小部屋とやわらかな間接照明が迎えてくれます。かつて客人を畳でもてなしていた日本の暮らしの知恵を受け継いでいます。
玄関の式台には、職人が手斧で削り出した名栗加工を施しました。長い時間をかけて磨かれた木肌の表情が、ここを訪れる人々を優しく迎え入れます。
推开门，首先映入眼帘的是一间铺有榻榻米的小房间和柔和的间接照明——
承袭了以榻榻米迎宾的日本传统待客之道。
玄关的踏板使用了工匠以手斧雕琢的「名栗工艺」，
长年打磨出的木肌温润而富有表情，温馨地迎接每一位到访者。
As you open the door, you’re welcomed by a small tatami room bathed in soft, indirect light—
a quiet homage to the traditional Japanese way of receiving guests on tatami mats.
The threshold features naguri carving, shaped by hand axe by skilled artisans.
The natural texture of the carefully polished wood offers a warm and tactile welcome.

リビングの⼀⾓には珪藻⼟で包まれた⼩上がり和室を設けました。伝統的な⽇本家屋の要素である「縁側」のような環境
をつくることで、室内にいながらも再び外の要素を取り込むことをこころみました。畳の上には布団を敷いて寝室として使ったり、腰掛けて寛いだり、こどもたちの遊び場になったりと、使い⽅を変えられる、可変的な空間です。
客厅一角设有以珪藻土包覆的和式小高台，
我们尝试延用传统日式建筑中的「缘侧」空间，
使人们在室内也能体会到室外的空间质感。
榻榻米可铺上被褥作寝室用，也可以坐卧小憩、或者供孩子们嬉戏玩耍——
是一个用途多变、自由切换的灵活空间。
In one corner of the living space, a raised tatami area is gently enclosed by diatomaceous earth walls—
inspired by the engawa, the traditional veranda that connects indoors and outdoors.
This versatile space serves many purposes: a restful sleeping area with futons, a cozy reading nook,
or a playful zone for children. It gracefully reintroduces nature into the home.

Step further in, and a sweeping 270-degree view of the Seto Inland Sea unfolds before you.

Tokonoma (Alcove)
珪藻土の塗り壁に包まれた床の間には、風の通り道を考慮し、美しい円窓を設けました。この正円の窓は、日本の伝統的な建築様式に根ざしており、書院造りや茶室、数寄屋造りにも見られます。窓の向こうに広がる景色をやわらかくつなぎ、空間に静けさをもたらします。
由珪藻土墙包围的床之间内设计了一扇有利于通风，优雅的正圆窗。
这扇圆窗采用于日本传统的建筑风格，常见于书院造、茶室、数寄屋造。
柔和地引入窗外的景致，营造出宁静而优雅的氛围。
Set within diatomaceous earth walls, the tokonoma features a perfectly round window designed to enhance natural airflow.
Rooted in the traditions of shoin-zukuri, tea rooms, and sukiya-zukuri architecture,
this circular opening softens the view and brings a quiet elegance to the space.

襖には、野田版画工房による唐紙を採用しています。職人の手仕事によって生み出された繊細な文様が、時間とともに表情を変え、空間に趣と創造性を加えます。
襖纸采用了由野田版画工房手工制作的唐纸。
匠人细致勾画出的图案，随着时间推移可以感受到变化，
为空间增添意趣与创造力。
The fusuma panels are made with karakami paper from Noda Hanga Studio.
Each pattern is handcrafted by artisans, subtly shifting in tone and texture with the passage of time—
adding depth, poetry, and imagination to the interior.

木の節や木目が生き生きと表れ自然の美しさを愉しむことができます。
バスタブの窓からは心地よい風を感じながら瀬戸内の海を一望できます。
洗手台选用了一整块带树皮边的栃木实木板，
木结与年轮生动自然，让人感受到自然之美。
在浴缸的窗边感受舒适的海风，濑户内海的绝美景致尽收眼底。
The sink counter is carved from a single live-edge slab of horse chestnut,
its organic knots and grain celebrating the vivid beauty of nature.
From the bathtub, gaze out at the panoramic ocean view and feel the breeze on your skin.

一日の終わりには、名尾手すき和紙に包まれた寝室へ。和紙の原料となる梶の木の栽培から紙漉きまでを一貫して手がける名尾の工房で、職人が一枚ずつ丁寧に漉いた和紙を使用しています。旅の疲れをそっと癒してください。
一天的旅程结束后，进入由名尾手工和纸包覆的寝室。
该纸由名尾工房自种楮树、手工抄制而成，
每一张都凝聚了匠人的心意。
在这静谧空间中，请慢慢舒解旅途的疲惫。
At the end of the day, retreat to a bedroom enveloped in handmade Nao washi paper.
From tree cultivation to paper-making, each sheet is crafted entirely by hand at the Nao workshop.
Let the gentle texture and warm light of this space ease you into rest, soothing the weariness of your journey.

間近に瀬⼾内の海を感じられるバルコニーは、外と内をやわらかにつなぐバッファゾーンとして設けられました。古い既存のサッシとの間に断熱性と気密性を確保しつつ、快適な環境を実現しています。海を望みながらコーヒーを⽚⼿にのんびりと過ごしたり、移ろう空や波の表情を眺めたりと、⽇常の中に⼩さな贅沢を感じられます。
阳台作为柔和连接内外的缓冲空间，让人能够近距离感受濑户内海。在与原有的窗户之间确保了绝热性和气密性，实现了舒适的环境。在这里，可以一边手捧着咖啡，一边眺望大海。欣赏天空与波涛的变化，在日常生活中感受到一丝小小的奢华。
The balcony, designed as a buffer zone that gently connects the interior and exterior, allows you to feel the Seto Inland Sea up close. While ensuring thermal insulation and airtightness between the old existing sash windows, it creates a comfortable environment. Here, you can enjoy small luxuries in daily life—sipping coffee while gazing at the sea, or watching the ever-changing expressions of the sky and waves.

A Journey Through Time
瀬戸内の穏やかな海を眺めながら、朝日を浴びて目を覚まします。目の前に広がる水平線を見つめると、海がただ見えるのではなく、まるで海に包まれているような感覚を覚えます。穏やかな海の美しさと対照的に、渦潮の迫力も圧巻です。轟音を立てて巻き起こる巨大な渦を目の前で感じ、そのスリルとダイナミズムを肌で実感できます。
夕暮れ時、稜線が幾重にも重なり、グラデーションを描く島々が赤く染まり、海に溶け込んでいきます。夜になると、デッキから満天の星空を眺めることができ、刻々と変化する瀬戸内の景色に包まれながら、ゆったりと贅沢な時間を過ごすことができます。
また、照明は時間帯に合わせて光を調整でき、繊細な光の演出で、より一層美しい雰囲気を感じていただけます。

傍晚时分，层层叠叠的山脊线晕染出温柔的渐变，
红霞映染群岛，仿佛融入海中。
夜幕降临，站在露台仰望满天繁星，
沉浸在濑户内不断变化的自然景致中，享受悠然而奢华的时光。
此外，照明设计也可随时间段调节，
通过细腻的光线，为空间增添更丰富的氛围。

A Culinary Experience
地域のスーパーで新鮮な食材を選び、対面一体型のキッチンダイニングでみんなで食卓を囲みながら料理や食事を楽しむことができます。さらに、バルコニーに出て目の前に広がる瀬戸内の海を眺めながら楽しむのも格別です。
夏には近くの海で釣りを楽しみ、その日に獲れた新鮮な魚をその場で調理することができます。瀬戸内の海ではタイやアジ、イカなど、多彩な魚が釣れます。さらに、近くにはレモン農家があり、瀬戸内産のフレッシュなレモンを使った料理やデザートもお楽しみいただけます。地元ならではのジビエや、ここでしか味わえない特産品も豊富に揃っています。
また、食事を彩るのは地元の作家による器です。地域の作品や手仕事の器が食空間を一層華やかにします。

穏やかな瀬戸内に面した呉では、海水浴やキャンプ、釣りなど多彩な海遊びを楽しめます。クルーズ観光船や呉湾艦船巡り、観光列車では、美しい多島美やノスタルジックな街並みを堪能できます。海街ならではの海鮮グルメもどうぞお見逃しなく。
海の印象が強い呉ですが、「呉」という名前は「9つの峰（九嶺）」が由来だという説があります。野呂山や灰ヶ峰など、登山やトレイルランに適した山も豊富で、山頂から望む瀬戸内の夕日は絶景です。さらに、呉市と今治市を結ぶサイクリングロードでは、美しい浜辺や温泉を巡ることができます。
また、宿の近くにはプライベートビーチのような入り江があり、散歩やSUPを気軽に楽しめます。海や山など瀬戸内の自然の美しさを存分に味わうことができます。

While Kure is known for its sea, its name is also believed to originate from “Kyurei”—meaning “nine peaks.”
